DES MOINES TATTOO CONVENTION… & Get Awesome!

…That’s where we’ll be this Saturday night at 9pm at The Embassy Suites in Des Moines. Radio Moscow will be opening the night up at 7pm. I’ve never got to see them live yet but I have heard nothing but good things about them. This will be the last time we are performing in Des Moines for quite awhile as we will be hitting the road again over the next couple months until we return on Oct 3rd for the release of our new full length album: Get Awesome. We had originally planned to release this record at the Tattoo Convention because my favorite tattooist Josh Bowers did the artwork for the cover of the album. Unfortunately, things weren’t getting done fastest enough for us to have the record ready for sale by this July 26th. Definitely come out to the show just the same. We have our summer EP Mix Tape for sale along with new T’s and our previous two records. Plus, the point of this show is to go check out the killer tattoo artists we have here in Des Moines. You may not have any yourself but you can at least appreciate the talent that these guys and gals have! I love tattoos clearly and would have more if it weren’t for the fact that I never have money. Make sure you go check out Joshua’s booth or stand or whatever it is when you get there. He’s rad. Maybe you’ll even decide to get one yourself… a little spit in the eye of your corporate slave master…

I NEED PHOTOS…

So I’m sitting at my computer sorting through pictures of my band and shows we’ve played and I’m getting bored. I decided I would ask all of you who come to our shows to send me some pics instead. I’m looking for funny ones of my guys being dumb or actually, any that you just like for whatever reason. These pictures may or may not end up in our up coming album’s artwork. email them all to me at acehawkdracula@gmail.com. Hopefully, now my inbox will be flooded with amazing pics so I don’t have to work as hard.
I wish that everyone could have attended my friend Steve Greene’s wedding last Sat. He is the owner of the late Snorty Horse Saloon that my band and I loved so dearly. We got asked to playing at his wedding reception party and were honored to do so. He is probably the coolest guy I know. I’m not going to go into details but I will say that a wide open pasture, huge PA, thee bands, fireworks, Amish moonshine, and various livestock on the dance floor provided the ingredients for the greatest party in history. Shame on us Iowans for letting Missouri kick our ass…

The Industry in IA City…

Hey there,
Thanks to all of those people who made it out to see us last weekend. I know we great time! Thank you guys for picking up our new EP Mix Tape as well. They are selling quite well and every penny counts these days. Once again I don’t have anything interesting to say… except well does anyone know a guy or gal that works for mediacom and can get me some free cable? I want more channels and mediacom’s package deals suck unless you are new to their evil corporation. I’m looking for a good old-fashioned disgruntled employee who wants to get back at the man! And what better way to just that, than by hooking me up with some more channels… Sorry if that whole paragraph seems a little off.
This week we’ll be in IA City for the first time in quite a while! We are playing at what used to be know as the Q Bar. Now it’s The Industry. Sounds serious. We’ll be there this Thursday along with a local opener as yet to determined. Come out and check out our new stuff and pick up our new EP Mix Tape! please.
Friday I’ll be solo in Ames at the Lost and Found… and this time I will actually play the show! Sorry about that. Saturday The Josh Davis Band will be heading south to a private function… The end or the beginning of Steve Green’s life; depending on your perspective of marriage. The infamous Snorty Horse owner is tying the knot and we are one of the lucky bands attending and performing at the party. And it will be party! not your typical wedding reception to be sure. No thong song or electric slide. Just a lot of rock and huge hangover.
Just a quick heads up too… July 19th we’ll be playing at People’s on court to make up for the show that was rained out, or rather flooded out, this last June 13th. I am not entirely sure yet who will be opening up for us but trust my taste. See you soon! -jd

Happy 4th of July!

Its not quite the 4th but I just thought it was time to send out the weekly news letter. We’ll be in Des Moines this Thursday playing at the Yankee Doodle Pops concert with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra! I guess there will be tons and tons of people. I’ve head sometimes about 75,000 which seems crazy to me even though I know they aren’t there for me. That’s just a lot of people in one area! Immediately after our part the performance we have to split and get to People’s where this years Nitefall on the River: Authentic Showcase show got moved. The 4th I’m actually playing solo at the Lost & Found Lounge. Not sure what the bar will be like that night so tell your friends and help make it a party. Then saturday we’ll be playing outdoors again at The Green Space in Arnolds Park on Lake Okoboji with the Nadas. Good times. These newsletters just sound phony don’t they…? -jd
